Frihamnen

Laser Scanning Workshop
Gothenburg, Sweden 2017

LANDSKIP Lab was invited by Chalmers University to lead a scanning workshop of the Frihamnen harbour area, a post-industrial remnant currently approaching cultural and residential redevelopment.

Working closely with the Urban Design masters students, in collaboration with the local city authorities, terrestrial laser scanning was employed to document the site, parallel to site investigations by the participants.

The encroaching sponteneous vegetation and subtle microtopography and industrial traces are legible in stark relief in the resulting scans, which served as a basis to the further studio work.

Workshop commisioned by Chalmers University by Prof. Joachim Tarraso and in collaboration with the harbour development authority ‘Stadsutveckling Göteborg’, and the City of Gothenburg
